Featured Photo of theweek YEAR

I'd like to share with you what is quite likely the best publicity photo that was ever taken of me. At age 78-and-counting, I'm no longer into any of the kind of motivation that previously had me posing; I'm not trying to prove anything to anybody, merely satisfying a request from the Martin Guitar Company to supply a photo of myself with my new Signature Model, New Christy Minstrels® Limited Edition instrument.
My photographer was Becky Jo Benson, a member of my group and Mother Hen for the outfit. She has forever been in charge of everyone's looking good onstage, so it was only natural that she spent a lot of time directing me to brush my hair, button my shirt, smile, etc.

Quite by accident I discovered that the dark rosewood on the back of my new Martin makes an excellent mirror on a sunny day. In the background is the entrance to my kindergarden classroom. This is how far I've gotten in 74 years!

We tried a few shots in the front yard…

Then we went around back. Becky Jo was so preoccupied with my appearance in her view-finder that she failed to notice the petty drama taking place behind me in this shot. I couldn't see it, of course; I was looking at the camera. Vecca-The-Show-Dog seems to be weighing-in with her opinion about the importance of these photos.

If you ever wonder how important you really are, check with your dog. RS
